Maxime Martin became the first non-CUPRA EKS driver to be crowned King of the Weekend after an emphatic display by the Romeo Ferraris driver at his home Circuit Zolder for Race BE, the fourth round of the FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup.
Martin secured a perfect 100 points over the course of the weekend, run as part of Circuit Zolder Electrified, with FIA ETCR showcasing its support for Racing Pride at the Belgian track. The Belgian ended his faultless weekend with victory in the Pool FURIOUS DHL Super Final and moved to third place in the series standings.
Second highest scorer in Zolder was CUPRA EKS driver Adrien Tambay, who moved back into the driver standings lead over team-mate Mattias Ekström. Tambay came out top in the Pool FAST DHL Super Final and was now 21 points ahead of Ekström.
Tom Blomqvist enjoyed a stronger race weekend, with the CUPRA EKS driver taking the final podium spot, whilst Mikel Azcona was the highest-finishing Hyundai Motorsport N driver, scoring fourth and now one place ahead of hitherto standings leader, Ekström.
The Race BE weekend lent itself to a number of interesting initiatives, including Hyundai Motorsport N engineering a cap swap between Norbert Michelisz and Thierry Neuville.
All cars on the grid ran with rainbow colours in recognition of FIA ETCR’s support of the aims of the racing Pride movement.
Post Zolder, FIA ETCR would just get one weekend off before heading to Vallelunga for Race IT next.
